The Very Uncomplicated Set of “It’s Complicated”
We found another amazing set from a Nancy Meyers’ film. “It’s Complicated” was released in 2009 and centered around the Spanish-style ranch in Santa Barbara where Meryl Streep’s character Jane lived in.
The house that always looked so warm and cozy, was created by Production Designer Jon Hutman, who also worked some of our other favorite sets like “The Holiday,” and “Something’s Gotta Give.”
The sets interiors were sophisticated with a little California casual influence.
Our favorite room was the kitchen, according to Traditional Home, the overall design direction for Jane’s kitchen in the movie came directly from Nancy Meyers, “who wanted a ‘Belgian’ look that is reflected in the house’s furnishings and a quiet palette with natural linen.”
Bonus Fun Fact: Nancy Meyers said, “The Santa Barbara movie we filmed in New York.” The house they used for exterior shots was in Los Angeles (Santa Barbara is too expensive for filming), and the interiors for the house were built on a soundstage in Brooklyn.
